Manchester United transfer target Elliot Anderson was asked directly about his future during his time in the England camp.

Elliot Anderson is hot property heading into the summer transfer window, with both Manchester United and Manchester City chasing his signature.

United’s top target is Anderson, and the Nottingham Forest star is expected to cost over £75 million this summer.

Anderson is currently in the England camp and he was asked about his future plans. His answer gave away little about his potential destination, but it did paint a timeline for Ineos.

Elliot Anderson has full focus on World Cup campaign

Anderson sat with Thomas Tuchel for the latest England press conference, and he was asked about his future amid links to both United and City.

“We have got the World Cup this summer. My eyes are on that. That is all I am thinking about at the moment,” Anderson said.

Anderson didn’t give anything away about which club he might be joining, but his focus on the World Cup does suggest that a move likely won’t take place until after the tournament.

The tournament concludes on July 19, just one month before the 2026/27 Premier League campaign begins on August 22.

It sounds as though Anderson may want to wait until then before deciding on what club to join this summer.

Man United need a midfield signing before pre-season

United are set to stay in Europe for pre-season this summer to minimise the travel distance for players.

Ineos are in the process of hiring a permanent head coach, and whoever steps into the role will want as much time as possible with players to prepare for the new season.

United need multiple midfield signings this summer to fill the void left by Casemiro, and ideally Ineos will want fresh faces in the door in time for pre-season training.

If Anderson wants to wait until the World Cup concludes, Ineos should be pushing for a different signing to arrive beforehand so that the task of rebuilding the midfield doesn’t become rushed towards the end of the window.
